Foldable iPhone Leak Suggests Game Changing Design and Pricing Strategy
Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone is inching closer to reality — and if recent leaks are accurate, it could shake up the premium smartphone market in more ways than one.
According to new reports out of China and insights from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the upcoming iPhone Fold might be thinner than any Apple device ever made and surprisingly more affordable than initially expected.
📉 Price Could Drop Below $2,000
Previous estimates put the foldable iPhone’s price above $2,000, with some expecting it to reach $2,500. But newer leaks now suggest a potential starting price of around $1,800 — cheaper than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which currently retails for $1,999.99.
A recent UBS teardown report also suggests Apple may keep the bill of materials (BOM) below Samsung’s by cutting costs in memory and camera components while maintaining high-end build quality. This could allow Apple to maintain strong margins while still undercutting competitors on price.
📱 Ultra-Thin Design to Beat the iPad Pro?
In terms of design, Apple is aiming for something truly cutting-edge. Multiple leakers, including Instant Digital, claim the iPhone Fold will be just 4.8mm thick when unfolded, making it even slimmer than the M4 iPad Pro (5.1mm) — Apple’s thinnest device to date.
Even when folded, the iPhone Fold is expected to stay under 9.5mm, putting it in direct competition with the sleekest Android foldables.
🔍 Samsung Display Tech Inside
To achieve its thin, crease-free design, Apple is reportedly partnering with Samsung for its advanced foldable OLED technology. Suppliers like Fine M-Tec are also expected to contribute critical display components that reduce visible creasing.
Apple is clearly prioritizing design perfection — and if the leaks hold true, the Fold may offer a cleaner fold than Samsung’s own devices.
🚨 Limited Units, High Demand
Reports suggest Apple plans to release 10–15 million units of the iPhone Fold in 2026, with limited availability at launch. If priced at $1,800, the device may attract not just tech enthusiasts, but also premium iPhone buyers looking for something new.

💬 What’s Next?
It’s still early days, but the iPhone Fold is shaping up to be one of Apple’s boldest releases ever — balancing innovative design with a more accessible price than expected. With folding phones still struggling to hit mainstream appeal, Apple’s entry might just change the game.
Would you buy a foldable iPhone if it cost $1,800 and was thinner than any Apple device ever made?
